So if anyone else has watched Tokyo drift as much as I have (you shouldn’t it’s a problem. I watch it at least 10 times a year and I don’t ever really like the movie)
One quote from Neela is “my mother died when I was 10, DKs Grandmother took me it”
Then she mentioned how they grew up together, as “family”
My dude DK treats his “cousin“ like a possession and a whore, groping her any chance he get. Not to mention Neela isn’t even of age yet.
Makes me feel better that DK Dishonored his family at the end
Wow this movie is deeper than I thought, although probably unintentional

The only part of that movie I ever really liked was the Monte Carlo. That thing was a fucking monster.

yep. basically anything involving women in any of the FF movies is cringeworthy at best, blatantly fucked up at worst.

Other than Neela I can’t think of another girl in the films treated like that, although I can agree women aren’t portrayed well in the films

This the wrong DK tho. My boy Kong isn’t interested in underaged girls

Tej and Roman calling dibs on Ramsey after seeing her swimming.
Vince being so creepy about Mia in the first movie.

I just like the Konishiki cameo, as a life long sumo fan.

Yeah but those are singular moments, Neela is not only abused the whole movie but is suggested that has been happening awile

Is Tokyo also in some type of time loop since Tokyo drift Is supposed to occurred in 2014, but everyone uses flip phones, I pods, and the coolest cars are g35s and 370Zs?

You know Vince was creepy about Mia forever.

Vince was jealous, but I don’t think he really was pushing her to get with him until Brian came. He only started because Brian, and while he has a history of asking her out, it only gets weird when him, brain and mia are in the same room. So like 16 minutes within the movie

Do you not see how that fits into the aforementioned pattern? It’s not just that women themselves aren’t portrayed well (offering oneself up as a prize? What in the porn fantasy realm of bullshit?) but throughout the series they’re consistently treated in such a gross manner that it seriously impacts my desire to watch them. Not that watching or enjoying them makes you a bad person by association, just no need to get defensive or be in denial about the reality of the situation. Everyone has problematic faves after all.

I’m not being defensive, all I was trying to say was without a doubt Neela has been treated the worst, but at the end of the day that’s her character. She’s supposed to be scare of DK, the little porn fantasy in the movies is intentional but the idea Is that the female character is ok with it (like when Carter is groping Eva mendez’s character and she has to pretend to like it to stay undercover) Neela is never ok with DK.
Basically all of the other women are treated bad because of fantasy and for the movie to appeal to it’s audience, while Neelas scared abused character is all for the plot, because it’s a “save the girl” cliche

Always annoyed me how badly they fucked up the timeline, like Brian using a brand new 2009 Impreza... in a movie that supposedly took place in 2004.
